What We Do

To maximize the aeration benefits and do the most with your budget, our team will review the history of your pond, how it’s used today, and any goals you may have.

We can select the proper size and style of aerator to ensure your entire water body will benefit from it. Our team will work with you to verify the electrical specifications at the site and provide any necessary details to your electrician. Our professional installation ensures the unit is at the correct depth and location in the water to maximize performance and ensure success.

Diffused Aeration Installation
Diffused aeration focuses on improving water quality from the bottom to the surface. Our systems utilize shore-mounted compressors, weighted air lines, and underwater diffusers. Air is pumped from the compressor through air lines along the bottom of your pond/lake. When air reaches the diffusers, it’s broken up into millions of bubbles that rise to the surface, bringing water from the bottom of the lake to the surface.

These mixing vents swamp gasses from the water and introduces much-needed oxygen. In the presence of oxygen, aerobic bacteria thrive and work to quickly break down muck. These aerobic bacteria also produce fewer swamp gasses and odors than do their anaerobic counterparts.

Properly sized diffused aerators that generate constant circulation can prevent thermal stratification and reduce the likelihood of a turnover-related fish kill. The circulation from diffused aerators also creates ripples that spread across the surface and eliminate areas of stagnant water. The ripples also refract sunlight, reducing light penetration and potentially slowing the growth of submerged weeds and algae.

Diffused aeration also has the benefit of all electrical components being shore based, making them ideal for swimming ponds.

Surface Aeration Installation
Surface aerators dramatically agitate high volumes of water at the surface. This method of aeration focuses on maximum exposure of water to air for valuable gas exchange. Not only does surface aeration increase dissolved oxygen, it also helps vent swamp gasses and their associated odors from the water. In the presence of aeration, aerobic bacteria thrive and work to quickly break down muck. These aerobic bacteria also produce fewer swamp gasses and odors than do their anaerobic counterparts.

The agitation from these surface aerators also creates ripples that spread across the surface and eliminate areas of stagnant water. The ripples also refract sunlight, reducing light penetration and potentially slowing the growth of submerged weeds and algae. Surface aeration is particularly effective in shallow bodies of water, where they aerate the majority of the water column.

Surface aerators can quickly increase dissolved oxygen concentration and protect your fish from periodic swings in oxygen. Maintaining stable oxygen concentration reduces stress on the fish, which results in consistent feeding and growth and healthier populations.

Fountain Installation
Our professional installation service guarantees your new fountain/aerator is secured in your pond and operating at full capacity from day one.

We’ll energize the unit and verify the electrical specifications are in range. Anchor lines will be placed and secured to ensure the unit is at the correct operating depth and location in the water body. Placing your equipment in the ideal location is key to maximizing performance, longevity, and aeration benefits.

Our team will also review operating instructions with you to ensure you are confident in the basic functions of your aerator.

Fountains and Aeration

Aeration offers a multitude of benefits for ponds and lakes. It enhances water circulation, which helps distribute oxygen more evenly, benefiting fish and other aquatic life. Aeration also reduces stratification, prevents harmful algal blooms, and improves water clarity. Additionally, it promotes the breakdown of organic matter, mitigating foul odors and improving overall water quality.

At Jones Lake Management, we offer both surface aeration and bottom-based aeration systems. Each system has unique advantages, and our experts will assess your waterbody to recommend the most suitable option based on your lake's specific needs.

Surface aeration, such as fountain aerators, agitate the water at the top to increase oxygen exchange and improve aesthetics. On the other hand, bottom-based aeration uses diffusers or air stones to release air at the lake's bottom, effectively lifting and circulating water from the depths to the surface. This type of aeration is more efficient for deeper waterbodies and can significantly enhance oxygen levels throughout the water column.

Aeration is a powerful tool for improving the health of your waterbody. By maintaining optimal oxygen levels and reducing stratification, aeration creates a healthier environment for fish, diminishes the potential for fish kills, and reduces the accumulation of harmful gases.. It also aids in decomposing organic matter and supports a thriving and balanced aquatic ecosystem.
