The Jones Legacy

Jones Fish has history of excellence in fish production and lake management. Robert Lee Jones began managing the Gatliff Fish Hatchery (Williamsburg, KY) more than sixty years ago. In 1949, he set a world record for producing the most fingerling largemouth bass in a one acre pond. His son, Albert Russell Jones, continued the tradition by serving as a fishery biologist for the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources. He was instrumental in introducing striped bass into Lake Cumberland, rainbow trout into Laurel Lake and walleye above Cumberland Falls.

Today, the third generation continues to improve the industry. In 1989, founder Robert P. Jones began Jones Fish Hatcheries & Distributors LLC in Cincinnati, Ohio. Our state-of-the-art production facility features nineteen production ponds and over 45,000 gallons of indoor holding tanks. Over the years, we have grown from a small, two man operation in southwestern Ohio to an industry leader with seven locations, a footprint that encompasses all of Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and northern Tennessee and a proficient staff of over 70 biologists.

We dedicate a significant amount of time to researching and field-testing the latest industry products. This ensures the products meet our standards and our staff is knowledgeable about new product applications. The range of different ponds and conditions encountered during field tests allows us to obtain more accurate product results and offer realistic expectations to our customers. Our staff completes extensive training to ensure we are confident in the use and applications of our recommended products. Our dedication earned us the honor of 2016 Applicator of the Year from Applied Biochemists, a leading manufacturer of specialty algaecides and herbicides.

Jones Fish has stocked thousands of ponds and lakes through the Midwest. We raise and sell over 19 different fish species. Whether you are seeking fathead minnows and golden shiner minnows to supplement a forage fish base, or largemouth bass and bluegill sunfish to bolster your existing fish population, our team can assist you with your pond stocking goals.

Fish are available for pick up at our Cincinnati aquaculture facility. We also offer delivery on all fish orders over $500 within our standard delivery area. Our Medina, Columbus, Fort Wayne, Nashville, Indianapolis, Louisville and Portage locations host regularly scheduled Fish Days on Saturdays during our spring and fall seasons.

Jones Fish is deeply committed to the development and advancement of the US aquaculture industry.
