


PADDLEFISH (Polyodon spathula)
IDENTIFICATION: A scaleless fish with a cartilage skeleton, a very large mouth and a long, paddle shaped rostrum that is often 1/3 of their total length. This highly developed sensory organ helps these filter feeders locate food and navigate their surroundings.
SPAWNING: Successful spawning is unlikely in Midwestern ponds.
Paddlefish are only available in late fall. Place an order by September 1st to ensure that requests can be accommodated. Paddlefish are only available via delivery. Minimum order of 3 fish required.
