BULLFROG TADPOLES (Lithobates catesbeianus)

IDENTIFICATION: The larval form of the bullfrog emerges from eggs with gills and a long, flat tail. As the tadpole matures, front and hind legs will develop as the tail dwindles in size.

BIOLOGY: Adult female bullfrogs lay eggs in the spring. Seven to ten days after spawning, the eggs hatch and the tadpoles wiggle free. Once mature, bullfrogs can be harvested and consumed. They are rich in protein and omega-3 fatty acids.

250 tadpoles per acre stocking rate is recommended.
