An abundance of leaf litter from surrounding trees contributed to the nutrient load and accelerated eutrophication of the pond. After discussing options, our team and client determined an integrated management approach that would best benefit the waterbody. Our team implemented an aggressive beneficial microbe regimen to encourage natural bacteria populations and metabolize excess nutrients. The result was a more balanced waterbody with abundant benthic organism populations that successfully absorbed phosphorus inputs. By initiating this regimen early, we were able to significantly improve not only the health of the pond, but also client satisfaction.
