Clients who have large, deep lakes or ponds with moderate to heavy spring flow may choose to stock coolwater gamefish, such as walleye and yellow perch, in addition to the traditional gamefish species. However, diffused aeration is recommended to create a cooler, more uniform temperature throughout the body of water. Aeration will also provide a larger usable area for these fish. Strutures placed in both shallow and open, deep water are also very important in cool water fisheries. In cooler water, the spawn of forage fish may not be as productive and a supplemental forage stocking program should be initiated.
