A bottom-based diffused aeration system works by pushing air down to the bottom of your pond. The air is then diffused into tiny bubbles that float to the surface, breaking the thermocline. This process destratifies your water, dispersing life-giving oxygen throughout. Due to the lack of oxygen in the summer months, fish generally cannot survive in the lower half of your pond for long periods of time. Adding oxygen will allow your fish to make use of both the upper and lower lake strata.
